Rising indie band Side FX has just scored their biggest gig yet – considered even bigger than concerts by many top, major-label artists – by landing their first half-time show at the Washington Redskins Dec. 24, 2011 game against the Vikings. On Christmas eve, the Side FX’s lead singer, Kim Cameron, will walk out to the field and sing “My Memories of Christmas,” the band’s only original Christmas song.
The Washington Redskins are a long time favorite of the band, but have a tremendous regional and national following. Half time music acts are rarely seen on the field and when they do appear, they are backed with large music labels like Sony or EMI.
Side FX has broken all the music business boundaries this year with five of the songs on their latest EP landing on the charts. Three songs hit coveted top 40 spots typically reserved for the big label makers: “My Face is Shining” is still climbing at #31; “A Dance” landed at #31 on Adult Top 40; and “Paradise” hit #31 on Adult Contemporary. “Sexy Smile” hit #103 on Adult Top 40, and “3 Seconds” is still climbing the radio chart ladder.
The band’s success this year also includes a major distribution deal with Morada Music that distributes to FYE, Best Buy, J & R Music, Coconuts, and Sam Goody among others across the country.
“Being asked to perform in our home town for such an outstanding team was a dream I never thought would come true,” says Cameron. “What a great Christmas present!”
Recently, Side FX was asked to headline the Army-Navy Game Gala on Dec. 9 due in part to their work with various veterans organizations and the U.S. Dept. of Veterans Affairs.
Side FX will be touring throughout 2012 performing at other sporting events including the half time show for one of the ABA teams; Jersey Express on January 28th. For more information on Side FX, go to http://www.kimcameronmusic.com.
