Germanwings, one of the most successful low-cost airlines in Europe, recently released an innovative Facebook application developed by Portland, Oregon’s Sparkloft Media, a social media marketing and communications firm.
Germanwings “FriendFlights” is a social airfare booking application (apps.facebook.com/friendflights) that helps users easily find the lowest Germanwings airfares to visit their Facebook friends around Europe.
The application, which lives on Facebook, sorts Germanwings airfare results by price, geographical distance or Facebook friends, making it easy for users to enhance their online connections and create new, real life experiences. The well-known airline offers low-cost airfares from five locations in Germany to 75 destinations around Europe.
“We are excited to work with Germanwings to provide their Facebook fans with information that highlights the airline’s low-priced airfare options,” said German native Martin Stoll, founder and CEO of Sparkloft Media. “Many Europeans are already using social media to stay connected with their friends and family around the continent, so this really makes sense as the next step in utilizing social platforms to stay in touch.”
FriendFlights utilizes technologies developed by Sparkloft Media. The company developed a similar application last summer called “FriendFareFinder” (http://friendfarefinder.com), which generates results from a variety of airlines to locations around the world. The previous application also showed the lowest airfares to featured destinations, for users who are not looking to visit specific Facebook friends.
Sparkloft Media, a division of GoSeeTell Network Inc. (http://www.goseetell.com), provides a wide range of services, including social media strategy development, social media campaign management and implementation services as well as social software development. The firm’s clients include some of the most innovative organizations in travel and tourism around the world in addition to consumer/lifestyle brands, government, non-profit and economic development organizations.
