Advance Continuing Education is a partner with the Canadian Red Cross and has been In business since 2003. Based in Central Vancouver, the company offers frequently scheduled first aid courses for students and service providers at the Vancouver Education Centre on East Broadway near Main Street. There are many first aid courses to choose from. The courses focus on a broad range of topics including but not limited to: standard first aid; emergency first aid; CPR for infants, children and adults; choking; health care providers; the equivalent of occupational first aid (OFA) training and certification; food-safe courses; first-person-on-the-scene training; first aid kits; a mountain and outdoor first aid course; first aid for fainting; first aid in remote locations; parents and first aid; babysitting; first aid qualifications for nature guides; and even CPR, safety and first aid training for dogs.
An official certification card that is valid for three years is issued to each participant upon successful completion of the course. Students seeking to renew certification(s) can take most courses at a reduced rate. With each course, students receive a Canadian Red Cross First Aid and CPR Manual. These Red Cross First Aid courses provide the skills participants need to save lives in case of a medical emergency.
The Red Cross certified first aid instructors at Advance Continuing Education are experts in their subject area with practical experience from their careers. “We pride ourselves in having the best first aid instructors anywhere in Vancouver,” said Aaron Grain, facilitator/trainer at Advance Continuing Education. Many instructors are firemen, paramedics, or from other lifesaving and safety industries. Each instructor strives to make their course a fun, active experience for participants by including games, activities, physical work, and lots of visuals.
